WINE AND WILDERNESS ADVENTURE: Texas-Style African Safari and Wine Country

Package Price: $1375 Double   $1775 Single $1295 triple $1250 quad
Time: 05/07/2023 - 05/13/2023 9:00am
Come with us to the new "Napa"--and explore dramatic orchards and vineyards, complete with expansive views of Texas Hill country. Popular with Texans for years because of its legendary shopping and bountiful crops, Fredericksburg has evolved into a wine destination unlike any other in the country. It boasts a small-town feel with restaurants, shops, and attractions usually reserved for a much larger destination. Settled by German immigrants in the 1840s, its rich German Heritage is still evident today among its architecture, cuisine, and friendly people. We'll depart from Little Rock and spend the first two nights in Grapevine, convenient to Arkansans and brimming with activity – like a bustling, historic downtown, wineries, and tasting rooms.
The city name was inspired by the region’s native wild grapes – so you can count on great wine and fabulous food to be part of our experience, too. Then we're off to Fredericksburg for 3 nights--a charming small town filled with world-class wine, with the backdrop of the Texas Hill Country, where hills rise to 400–500 ft above the surrounding plains and valleys, and Packsaddle Mountain rising to 800 ft above the Llano River. The delightful main street downtown just blocks from our hotel will entice you with shops, galleries, and the ever-present wine-tasting rooms. We'll explore the vineyards of the area, including a visit and taste at Becker Vineyards-- home to 56 acres of vineyards known as the "front" and "back" vineyards. The 1890s homestead log cabin sits alongside a scenic windmill and water tank. The cabin was discovered in 1990, and along with it, 46 acres of raw land, fallow fields of deep sand, and Precambrian granitic soils 1500 feet above sea level. Becker Vineyards' wine has been served in the stateliest of settings, including seven times in the White House. We'll continue with another day, exploring more vineyards and an included dinner that honors the German heritage of Fredericksburg! Our time in Fredericksburg includes a visit to Wildseed Farms-the nation’s largest working wildflower farm, growing fields of wildflowers to produce seed for over 35 years. Through the ages, Mother Nature worked alone, splashing the countryside with brilliant colors. But this tour is called wine and wilderness. That's why we dedicate a half day to experiencing an African safari, Texas-style! Nearby Natural Bridge Wildlife ranch has more than 40 species from all over the world roaming the rolling hills, meandering the creek beds, and living amongst the magnificent live oak trees. Our safari trek covers over 6 miles but will take nearly two hours to take it all in! Called one of the best safari parks in the nation by USA Today—you won't have to go very far to feel like you are in Africa! As we head back to Fredericksburg for our final night, we'll stop in a place where the entire town is set up like the Old West. Get ready to take some fun pictures, as we bet you didn't even know this place existed! Our final day and night on tour keep with our theme of "wine and wilderness" as we make our way back to Arkansas. Our first stop along our route is a visit to the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center for another open-air safari! This 7.2-mile scenic drive is where you can interact with approximately 1,100 exotic and endangered animals roaming free in herds. See 50-plus species of wild animals, including cheetahs, wolves, giraffes, rhinos, and more. The delicious food at The Overlook Cafe is paired with an incredible view overlooking the park, and the Nature Store offers an array of souvenirs to take home to family and friends. While Fossil Rim is sure to provide a unique experience and exciting adventure, it is dedicated to the conservation of species. Our final night includes a special evening event --a fun wine and wilderness finale that will wrap up a memorable week of adventures! Price includes roundtrip motorcoach transportation and all transportation throughout the tour, 6 nights lodging, 11 meals, two safaris, multiple wineries, vineyard tours and tastings, WildseedFarms, and all taxes and fees.

Package Price: $3150 Double $4225 Single $2790 triple $2650 quad
Time: 07/08/2023 - 07/23/2023 9:00 am
Join us on our spectacular journey to the Pacific Northwest -- home to massive volcanoes, pristine temperate rain forests, high desert plains, sea stack-lined coasts, and spectacular mountain ranges. Our route will make a circle from Arkansas—getting there northwest through South Dakota, Idaho, and Montana and returning east through Nevada, Wyoming, and Colorado—with so many exciting overnights, bonus stops, and beautiful scenery along our route! And get this…three of our included National Parks were recently named among the most beautiful on the planet! Among them is Olympic National Park. This pristine wilderness is unlike any other on the planet. Glaciers radiate down from its slopes toward primeval pine forests, lush rain forests, and wide valleys.
Rivers and waterfalls abound, while glacial lakes dot lower areas. Our day inside Olympic National Park will include a stop at the visitor center, as well as time to explore the highlights of this natural wonderland. Our time in Washington State also includes taking in spectacular Mount Rainer National Park, rising 14,410 feet toward the often-cloudy Pacific Northwest sky; this mountain dominates the landscape in central Washington State. But we won’t just see this marvel from the ground…we’ll enjoy a ride on the Mt. Rainier Gondola! This breathtaking ride takes us over 2,400 vertical feet to the summit to enjoy expansive views of this mountain as well as the beautiful Cascade Range. Our time in the Pacific Northwest also takes us to Mount St Helen’s Visitors Center-- created after the massive 1980 eruption of the volcano, the most devastating volcanic event in U.S. history—in terms of both numbers of deaths and economic destruction. Then we’re off to the Johnston Ridge Observatory to hear the story of Mount St. Helens and its eruption and learn more about the area’s unique geology and history. While we’re there, we’ll see the spectacular view of the blown-away crater and the wildflowers that cover the fertile valleys, slopes, and ridges.
Our time in the area also includes a visit to the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. Carved through the Cascade Mountains by the mighty Columbia River, the Gorge is home to lush forests and gorgeous waterfalls, including the famous Multnomah Falls, another stop along our journey through the Pacific Northwest. After our time in Washington State, we will drive further south into beautiful Oregon, enjoying spectacular scenery along the Oregon coast—including time to stop at the most famous lighthouses and towering monuments to Oregon’s maritime heritage. Many of Oregon’s lighthouses double as excellent wildlife viewing areas, and we might catch a glimpse of the seals or migrating gray whales. After several scenic coastal stops along the way, we will eventually make our way to Oregon’s only national park, Crater Lake National Park. An awe-inspiring, glorious park centered on eponymous Crater Lake. This water-filled caldera was created after the massive eruption and collapse of Mount Mazama, once a mighty volcano in the Pacific Northwest, about 7,700 years ago. Although its origins are undeniably violent, Crater Lake is now a prime example of peace and tranquility.
Our tour will take us along the historic Rim Drive—which includes 33 miles of lake views, panoramic vistas, forests, and meadows. The contours of the road were designed to complement the natural landscape and disappear as you look across the lake from any point. More than 30 overlooks provide opportunities to stop for views of the lake and caldera. Although the Pacific Northwest is our ultimate destination—because of the distance from Arkansas, we include several bonus attractions and overnight stops as we travel to and from the area, including a scenic cruise on Lake Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and two fun-filled days in historic Deadwood, South Dakota—a destination within our destination, where you will see wildlife at Custer State Park, and a nighttime experience of Mount Rushmore—lighting up the sky! ASPENS AFLAME IN AUTUMN: Rails of the Rockies, featuring two fall foliage train rides

Package Prices:$1595 Double$1995 Single$1495 triple $1295 quad
TIME: 8:30 AM, September 22, 2023
When it comes to fall color, the Rockies show off the world’s biggest organisms: aspen trees! These delicate, silver-barked trees are connected by their roots, so the enormous groves you’ll see stretching across entire hillsides are one gigantic living plant. And autumn is when they really let their light shine as their distinctively shaped leaves twinkle with pure gold. It’s not just one shade of yellow— from bright, sunshiny yellows to deep oranges and golds, these trees run the gamut. See this dazzling display of colors on our fall foliage tour of the Rockies. We’ll see it by road…and rail, as we embark on two scenic trains, and rides on this fall foliage adventure. The first is the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, also a National Historic Landmark.
At 64 miles in length, it is the longest, highest, and most authentic steam railroad in North America, traveling through the most spectacular scenery in the Rocky Mountain West. The train crosses state borders 11 times, zigzagging along canyon walls, burrowing through two tunnels, and steaming over 137-foot Cascade Trestle. Steam along through deep forests of aspens and evergreens, across high plains filled with wildflowers, and through a rocky gorge of remarkable geologic formations. Deer, antelope, elk, fox, eagles, and even bears are frequently spotted on this off-the-grid adventure. Afterward, you know why readers of USA Today called it the best and most scenic train ride in America (2016, 2019, 2020). But that’s not all; enjoy a second famous train ride: the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad! This historic train has been in continuous operation between Durango and Silverton since 1882, offering a view of Colorado’s mountain splendor inaccessible by highway. Departing from the Durango Depot, our unforgettable trip takes you up into the Rocky Mountains with fall foliage views of the San Juan National Forest as you travel alongside the beautiful Animas River to the historic mining town of Silverton. Our autumn journey through the Rockies includes a stop famous for foliage: Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Located near the town of Montrose in western Colorado, you’ll visit the park, this stunning 48-mile gorge of the Gunnison River. The gorge is over 2000 feet deep and so narrow that sunlight only reaches certain lower portions for a half-hour each day. Early fall is a great time for a visit to Black Canyon, as colors in the area tend to peak around late September, and temperatures often stay in the 70s. It's also when Aspens and oak trees come alive in a colorful display of oranges, yellows, and reds. A second national park we’ll see is the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Sink into the highest mountains of sand in North America, where the Sangre de Cristo Mountains buckle inward. The dunes within the borders of Great Sand Dunes National Park have been building and sifting for eons — the result of the San Luis Valley's unique wind patterns. There are numerous other inclusions and stops along the way. Price includes all motorcoach transportation, 7 days/6 nights (2 nights in Amarillo en route, 2 nights in Durango, Colorado, and 2 nights in the San Luis Valley of Colorado; 10 meals (6 breakfasts, 1 lunch, 2 dinners) Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Great Sand Dunes National Park, Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, numerous surprise stops along the way, a Little Rock Tours guide, and all your taxes!
