Join us on our spectacular journey to the Pacific Northwest -- home to massive volcanoes, pristine temperate rain forests, high desert plains, sea stack-lined coasts, and spectacular mountain ranges. Our route will make a circle from Arkansas—getting there northwest through South Dakota, Idaho, and Montana and returning east through Nevada, Wyoming, and Colorado—with so many exciting overnights, bonus stops, and beautiful scenery along our route! And get this…three of our included National Parks were recently named among the most beautiful on the planet! Among them is Olympic National Park. This pristine wilderness is unlike any other on the planet. Glaciers radiate down from its slopes toward primeval pine forests, lush rain forests, and wide valleys.
Rivers and waterfalls abound, while glacial lakes dot lower areas. Our day inside Olympic National Park will include a stop at the visitor center, as well as time to explore the highlights of this natural wonderland. Our time in Washington State also includes taking in spectacular Mount Rainer National Park, rising 14,410 feet toward the often-cloudy Pacific Northwest sky; this mountain dominates the landscape in central Washington State. But we won’t just see this marvel from the ground…we’ll enjoy a ride on the Mt. Rainier Gondola! This breathtaking ride takes us over 2,400 vertical feet to the summit to enjoy expansive views of this mountain as well as the beautiful Cascade Range. Our time in the Pacific Northwest also takes us to Mount St Helen’s Visitors Center-- created after the massive 1980 eruption of the volcano, the most devastating volcanic event in U.S. history—in terms of both numbers of deaths and economic destruction. Then we’re off to the Johnston Ridge Observatory to hear the story of Mount St. Helens and its eruption and learn more about the area’s unique geology and history. While we’re there, we’ll see the spectacular view of the blown-away crater and the wildflowers that cover the fertile valleys, slopes, and ridges.
Our time in the area also includes a visit to the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. Carved through the Cascade Mountains by the mighty Columbia River, the Gorge is home to lush forests and gorgeous waterfalls, including the famous Multnomah Falls, another stop along our journey through the Pacific Northwest. After our time in Washington State, we will drive further south into beautiful Oregon, enjoying spectacular scenery along the Oregon coast—including time to stop at the most famous lighthouses and towering monuments to Oregon’s maritime heritage. Many of Oregon’s lighthouses double as excellent wildlife viewing areas, and we might catch a glimpse of the seals or migrating gray whales. After several scenic coastal stops along the way, we will eventually make our way to Oregon’s only national park, Crater Lake National Park. An awe-inspiring, glorious park centered on eponymous Crater Lake. This water-filled caldera was created after the massive eruption and collapse of Mount Mazama, once a mighty volcano in the Pacific Northwest, about 7,700 years ago. Although its origins are undeniably violent, Crater Lake is now a prime example of peace and tranquility.
Our tour will take us along the historic Rim Drive—which includes 33 miles of lake views, panoramic vistas, forests, and meadows. The contours of the road were designed to complement the natural landscape and disappear as you look across the lake from any point. More than 30 overlooks provide opportunities to stop for views of the lake and caldera. Although the Pacific Northwest is our ultimate destination—because of the distance from Arkansas, we include several bonus attractions and overnight stops as we travel to and from the area, including a scenic cruise on Lake Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and two fun-filled days in historic Deadwood, South Dakota—a destination within our destination, where you will see wildlife at Custer State Park, and a nighttime experience of Mount Rushmore—lighting up the sky! There are numerous other inclusions and stops along the way. Price includes 15 days/14 nights (1 night in Omaha, 2 nights in Deadwood, South Dakota, 1 night in Montana, 5 nights in Washington State, 3 nights in Oregon, and additional overnights in Nevada, Colorado, and Kansas; 21 meals (11 breakfasts, 6 lunches, 4 dinners) Crater Lake National Park, Olympic National Park, Mt Rainier National Park Gondola Ride, Mount St Helens Visitor Center, Johnson Observatory, Colombia River Gorge National Scenic Area, Multnomah Falls, Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore nighttime experience, scenic lighthouse stops, numerous surprise stops along the way, a Little Rock Tours guide, and all your taxes!

ASPENS AFLAME IN AUTUMN: Rails of the Rockies, featuring two fall foliage train rides
Package Prices:$1595 Double$1995 Single$1495 triple $1295 quad
TIME: 8:30 AM, September 22, 2023
Please call Little Rock Tours to be added to a waitlist.
When it comes to fall color, the Rockies show off the world’s biggest organisms: aspen trees! These delicate, silver-barked trees are connected by their roots, so the enormous groves you’ll see stretching across entire hillsides are one gigantic living plant. And autumn is when they really let their light shine as their distinctively shaped leaves twinkle with pure gold. It’s not just one shade of yellow— from bright, sunshiny yellows to deep oranges and golds, these trees run the gamut. See this dazzling display of colors on our fall foliage tour of the Rockies. We’ll see it by road…and rail, as we embark on two scenic trains, and rides on this fall foliage adventure. The first is the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, also a National Historic Landmark.
At 64 miles in length, it is the longest, highest, and most authentic steam railroad in North America, traveling through the most spectacular scenery in the Rocky Mountain West. The train crosses state borders 11 times, zigzagging along canyon walls, burrowing through two tunnels, and steaming over 137-foot Cascade Trestle. Steam along through deep forests of aspens and evergreens, across high plains filled with wildflowers, and through a rocky gorge of remarkable geologic formations. Deer, antelope, elk, fox, eagles, and even bears are frequently spotted on this off-the-grid adventure. Afterward, you know why readers of USA Today called it the best and most scenic train ride in America (2016, 2019, 2020). But that’s not all; enjoy a second famous train ride: the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad! This historic train has been in continuous operation between Durango and Silverton since 1882, offering a view of Colorado’s mountain splendor inaccessible by highway. Departing from the Durango Depot, our unforgettable trip takes you up into the Rocky Mountains with fall foliage views of the San Juan National Forest as you travel alongside the beautiful Animas River to the historic mining town of Silverton. Our autumn journey through the Rockies includes a stop famous for foliage: Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Located near the town of Montrose in western Colorado, you’ll visit the park, this stunning 48-mile gorge of the Gunnison River. The gorge is over 2000 feet deep and so narrow that sunlight only reaches certain lower portions for a half-hour each day. Early fall is a great time for a visit to Black Canyon, as colors in the area tend to peak around late September, and temperatures often stay in the 70s. It's also when Aspens and oak trees come alive in a colorful display of oranges, yellows, and reds. A second national park we’ll see is the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Sink into the highest mountains of sand in North America, where the Sangre de Cristo Mountains buckle inward. The dunes within the borders of Great Sand Dunes National Park have been building and sifting for eons — the result of the San Luis Valley's unique wind patterns. There are numerous other inclusions and stops along the way. Price includes all motorcoach transportation, 7 days/6 nights (2 nights in Amarillo en route, 2 nights in Durango, Colorado, and 2 nights in the San Luis Valley of Colorado; 10 meals (6 breakfasts, 1 lunch, 2 dinners) Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Great Sand Dunes National Park, Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, numerous surprise stops along the way, a Little Rock Tours guide, and all your taxes!

Many excursions can be had…like viewing the SS Sapona wreck--the World War I ship which ran aground during a hurricane in 1926 and has remained ever since. Or check out the Dolphin House Museum, a three-story home made entirely out of recycled materials, including many items which washed up on the shore! Then we’re off to the Bahamas! This classic cruise destination consists of a 700-strong string of sun-splashed islands dotting the blue Atlantic. Enjoy sailing, snorkeling, strolling pearly pink-sand beaches, and swimming through crystalline turquoise seas on a Bahamas cruise.
Our cruise ship is the newly refurbished Carnival Spirit --more than a ship, but an unforgettable vacation experience. Whether you want action-packed fun or just want to relax and unwind, this ship has what you’re looking for…mini-golf course, a two-deck fitness center, jogging track, Serenity Adult-Only Retreat, pools, a spa, and more. And sail hungry, as you’ll be enjoying meals in three-course style in the Empire Restaurant! Or build your own meal with as many courses as you like at the casual-style, variety-packed Lido Restaurant. Speaking of casual, the trio of RedFrog Pub, Guy’s Burger Joint, and BlueIguana Cantina each put their own delicious spins on the flavor itself. Or, if you want to get a little fancy, sit down at the Nouveau Steakhouse. When the sun goes down, Carnival Spirit features bars and lounges, plus entertainment that’s great for when you’re feeling like live comedy, musical performances, and more. Feeling lucky? Travel with us into a Christmas fairy tale! Nestled in the beautiful north Georgia Mountains, Helen is a stunning replica of a Bavarian Alpine known for its scenic natural surroundings, vineyards in the foothills, and alpine aesthetics. Helen describes itself as having "the charm of Bavaria, in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. "The mountain town was specifically designed to look like a German village, set against a scenic backdrop of mountains, forests and river banks. Join us on our first-ever Alpine Christmas Tour, and feel as though you’ve been transported to the cobblestone streets of Germany’s famed Bamberg or Lindau. Colorful shops dot the landscape and the heavenly aroma of authentic German fare takes to the breeze. It's more than a bustling, artistic shopping district; the smells and sights will delight your senses.
Feast on delicious German delicacies and view the beautiful Chattahoochee River, which flows gently through the town and completes the Bavarian Alpine village scenery. Helen now has more than 200 specialty and import shops offering everything from candle making and glass blowing to cuckoo clocks and quilts. Dining options range from traditional German fare to traditional Southern. And our time in Helen will be during their famous Christkindlmarkt --a traditional German event that offers everything from unique gifts and decorations to an assortment of savory and sweet foods, drinks and candied treats. The traditional Christkindlmarkt traces its origins back to a traditional German event where shoppers stock up on hand-crafted presents while enjoying sweet and savory treats and mulled wine. If you never experience the traditional German Christmas Markets in Germany, Alpine Helen is the next best thing!
We'll depart Little Rock and stay overnight in Alabama. Our first night includes a visit to a waterfall park --filled with millions of lights, holiday displays and decorations. We'll enjoy spectacular views from the vantage of a ride on a train, which will surely bring out the holiday cheer in all of us! Christmas and trains have always been a magical combination. Then we're off to Georgia for our Alpine Christmas. We’ll visit the “Hallmark” town of Dahlonega-Catching this place during Christmastime is like peering into a snow globe that came to life when no one was looking. From the outside, Dahlonega is a whimsical holiday world draped in twinkling lights, with rambling horse-drawn carriages and visions of Santa Claus around every corner. But the town isn't frozen in perfection. This snow globe has been shaken up, leaving the scene brilliantly askew, delightfully mussed, and endlessly surprising. The Hallmark Channel even filmed one of its signature seasonal hits, “Christmas in Homestead,” in Dahlonega years ago. Our three-night stay in Georgia includes time at Christkindlmarkt, and visit to the Habersham Vineyard and winery, one of Georgia's oldest and largest wineries. We'll also enjoy time in the Blue Ridge Mountains—This mountain getaway feels as magical as the Man in Red himself. While we're in "the mountains" we'll enjoy the Mountain Country Christmas in Lights, a holiday treat along the shores of beautiful Lake Chatuge in the Northeast Georgia mountains. See a spectacular, magical holiday light show immersed in Christmas music, arts and crafts, food, fun, entertainment.
