The fun doesn’t end there, though. Following our stay on Mackinac Island, we will spend two nights in Holland-Michigan’s own Dutch community! Throughout the history of Holland, the city's Dutch heritage has been preserved and celebrated. You'll have an opportunity for a true Dutch experience as you see it in the Dutch architecture downtown, taste it in the Dutch delicacies found in local shops and eateries, and you'll experience it at the many Dutch attractions we’ll visit while in town. We’ll begin with DeZwaan Windmill Gardens, the only authentic Dutch windmill operating in the United States. From the top, you can survey the park's 36 acres of manicured gardens and natural areas. Costumed guides, an Amsterdam Street organ, a hand-painted Dutch carousel, several Dutch exhibits and replicas, and a gift shop stocked with Dutch goodies and local souvenirs will complete your visit. Then, step back into the Netherlands of over 100 years ago at Nelis Dutch Village. Within this happy village, you have many entertainment choices, including Dutch Dancing, wooden shoe carving, rides, games, friendly farm animals, photo ops, food, drink, and shopping. We’ll continue our time in Holland as you explore Downtown. Named one of “America’s Prettiest Towns” by Forbes Magazine and an “All-American City” by the National Civic League, downtown Holland’s cobblestone sidewalks line the streets with over 100 unique and locally owned shops, galleries, eateries, and brew pubs. We don’t have to travel all the way to Europe to experience the unique Dutch culture and heritage! From a historical Dutch village, the quaint and charming streets of Mackinac Island to stunning views on Lake Superior- Michigan, dazzles all who visit!
