Back by popular demand! Tennessee is so much more than country musicits a treasure trove of natural beauty, spectacular waterfalls, and unforgettable scenery just waiting to be discovered! And March is one of the most exciting times to chase waterfalls in Tennessee! Seasonal rainfall and winter snowmelt help feed the rivers and streams, bringing the waterfalls to life with powerful, rushing currents and roaring cascades. Watch as water tumbles over towering cliffs, crashes into rocky gorges, and fills the mountain air with the refreshing sounds of spring. From the lush indoor gardens of Nashvilles iconic Opryland Hotel to the rugged gorges and thundering waterfalls of the Cumberland Plateau, this getaway brings together Tennessees most beautiful natural wonders with plenty of time to relax and enjoy the journey.
Our adventure begins with a memorable two night stay at the world-famous Gaylord Opryland Resort, where indoor waterfalls, winding waterways, and lush tropical gardens create a spectacular escape. Enjoy a full day to explore this extraordinary resort at your own pace, discovering its beautiful atriums, charming shops, restaurants, and tranquil garden pathways. An included Delta Riverboat ride offers a unique perspective as you glide along the resorts indoor waterways, surrounded by breathtaking greenery and cascading water. Its a wonderful opportunity to unwind and experience one of Nashvilles most remarkable destinations before we head into Tennessees great outdoors.
Leaving Opryland behind, well trade the resorts indoor cascades for the spectacular waterfalls of the Cumberland Plateau. Our first stop is Cummins Falls State Park, home to a magnificent 75-foot waterfall tucked into a rugged, forested gorge. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery from the accessible overlook atop the bluff, where you can admire the falls and surrounding landscape without the strenuous hike down into the gorge. Next, well make a delicious stop at Chestnut Oaks Farm Store for an included lunch and a taste of local Tennessee hospitality. After lunch, well continue to Burgess Falls State Park, where the Falling Water River tumbles through a series of dramatic cascades before making its spectacular final plunge of more than 130 feet into a rugged gorge. Towering gray bluffs frame the rushing water, creating a picture-perfect setting and another unforgettable opportunity to experience Tennessees natural beauty.
Our waterfall adventure continues at Fall Creek Falls State Park, where well settle in for a relaxing two-night stay at the incredible Lodge at Fall Creek Falls. Nestled within one of Tennessees most treasured outdoor destinations, this beautiful lodge places us right in the heart of a landscape filled with cascading waterfalls, deep gorges, sparkling streams, and towering hardwood forests. With its welcoming atmosphere, lakeside dining, on-site restaurant, and waterside pool, the lodge is an ideal retreat after a day of exploring. Enjoy time to relax, take in the scenery, or simply savor the peaceful surroundings. Depending on your interests, the park also offers opportunities for kayaking, paddleboarding, and golf.
During our visit, well stop at the parks Visitor Center before enjoying a walk to the spectacular Fall Creek Falls, the crown jewel of the park. Plunging an awe-inspiring 256 feet into the gorge below, this magnificent waterfall is one of the tallest freestanding waterfalls east of the Rocky Mountains. And the best part? You dont need a strenuous hike to take in the view! An observation area just a short stroll from the parking lot makes it easy to appreciate this breathtaking natural wonder.
With two nights at the lodge, well have time to soak up the scenery, enjoy the amenities, and experience the park without feeling rushed. From the tranquil indoor waterways of Opryland to the thundering cascades of Tennessees most beautiful state parks, this getaway is all about spectacular scenery, refreshing relaxation, and the simple pleasure of discovering something extraordinary. Get ready to chase waterfalls and discover the natural wonders of Tennessee!
