Imagine a place so unique --surrounded by lush Florida nature, thriving wildlife, and manatees---with picturesque views of palm trees and near a scenic collection of freshwater springs that lead out to the Crystal River. This place is for real. It's The Plantation Resort on Crystal River. It offers an unforgettable experience in Florida’s historic Capital of the Manatee, a charming resort with so many activities...we'll spend days here to see and do it all. This is the destination of our 7-day/6-night tour—which includes 4 fabulous nights at the Plantation Resort on Crystal River, a full-service resort with classic rooms, excellent dining, a lagoon-style pool, an Aveda spa, and a world-class golf course. Plantation Resort on Crystal River is surrounded by thriving wildlife that sets itself apart from any other. We'll overnight on the way and check into our resort, where you will be for the next 4 nights.

After a welcome reception upon our arrival, you will have time to relax and enjoy the resort before an included resort dinner on site just for our group. The next day, you'll have the morning on your own to relax, golf on a championship course, relax by the pool, take an adventurous swim with the manatees, go to the spa, fish in the lagoon, or just take in the scenery! The choice is yours! Should you opt to swim with the manatees—you'll come across 40-50 manatees that stay in the water year-round. Wetsuits are provided that give warmth, buoyancy, and comfort for your guided swim with an expert. This allows you to stay in the water longer and with greater ease! In the afternoon, we'll join again for an included resort-style group lunch, followed by an included private cruise, which takes us out on the waterways for a special glimpse at Florida’s unique wildlife, culminating in an evening sunset. This memorable cruise through the Nature Coast’s most vibrant habitats is the perfect way to experience Florida's Nature Coast without getting in the water. The next day, we'll venture out to nearby Homosassa Wildlife Park-- one of the notable locations in the state to view manatees. Get close to the animals on a floating observatory or go on an exciting journey woven through Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park--- home to alligators, black bears, red wolves, Key deer, flamingos, and whooping cranes. The Underwater Observatory floats in the main spring and allows an up-close view of the gorgeous waters, thousands of Gulf of Mexico fish, and adorable manatees. Then, we'll take a delightful boat tour through Pepper Creek for another vantage point! After our time at Homosassa, we'll have another included lunch at a local favorite before giving you the rest of the evening on your own back at the resort. Our final full day at Plantation River takes us to Crystal River Archeological State Park—a national Historic Landmark. This 61-acre, pre-Columbian site has burial mounds, temple/platform mounds, a plaza area, and a substantial midden. The six-mound complex is one of the longest continuously occupied sites in Florida. For 1,600 years, the area served as an imposing ceremonial center for Native Americans. People traveled to the complex from great distances to conduct trade and bury their dead. After our stop here, you'll have lunch on your own before our final destination of the day—a thrilling airboat ride--the best way to see Florida’s exotic wildlife in their unspoiled natural paradise. Imagine gliding through the wetlands and viewing Florida’s natural wildlife. We'll take you on this ride down the Withlacoochee River, looking for exotic birds, turtles, and the Florida Alligator. Imagine flying like the wind into swamps, experiencing the awesome feeling of the airboat traveling at speeds up to 45 miles per hour. Leave the crowds behind and discover the finest family fun exploring the Withlacoochee River wilderness – home of giant wild alligators, wild boar, osprey, eagles, otters, deer, and a magnitude of other exotic wildlife in their unspoiled natural paradise. We'll have one final night at the resort before departing home the next day—overnighting en route before making our way back to Arkansas.
