Visiting Charleston & Savannah is a unique experience for many reasons. From the nationally recognized restaurant scene and exquisitely preserved historic district to the surrounding miles of pristine beaches and barrier island resorts, both cities offer a rare combination of sophistication, living history, natural beauty, and world class hospitality.
One of America's most beloved cities, Savannah, boasts a
historical and scenic backdrop like no other city in the
South!
Our first highlight is the quaint city of Franklin, TN. If
youre looking to slow down and experience southern
sophistication, Franklin is just the place for you! From the
nationally-recognized historic Main Street, Civil War history,
to shopping, you will find yourself getting lost in a new
adventure among a picturesque setting. While in Franklin we
visit the Carnton House. With Franklin being the site of the
Battle of Franklin, Carnton served as the largest field
hospital in the area for hundreds of soldiers. Then, we are off
to Chattanooga where we spend one night taking in the beautiful
and historical sites of this sweet city on the river!
Natures beauty is all around us- and even sometimes
beneath us! Located 1,120 feet beneath Earths surface,
Ruby Falls dazzles visitors as the nations largest and
deepest waterfall open to the public. Named one of the Ten Most
Incredible Cave Waterfalls on Earth, the sparkling 145-foot
underground waterfall is located at Lookout Mountain, in
Chattanooga, Tennessee. As you make your way down stairs to the
falls, marvel at the many cavern formations that surround you!
Set in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Chattanooga
offers sweeping views of the Tennessee River.
We continue the tour with three nights in Savannah! Upon arriving in Savannah, you will have time to discover the nationally recognized restaurant scene and exquisitely preserved historic district, and see why this southern city is a rare combination of sophistication, living history, natural beauty, and world class hospitality. You can walk anywhere inside Savannahs Victorian historic district, with its 22 park-like squares, one of the largest designated National Historic Districts in the U.S. Over the next two days you will get to tour all of the highlights at your own pace with an included Hop-on-Hop-Off Trolley Pass. Be sure to hop-off at the points of interest surrounding the book "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" and the filming of "Forrest Gump." You will also view historic buildings, mansions, churches and notable homes. Also, spend time at the famous Marketplace that is lined with shops, delicious dining, and southern charm! As we depart Savannah, the fun continues with a two night stay in Charleston, South Carolina. Similar in many ways, Charleston has a flavor that is distinctively colonial. Charleston is often called the "Holy City" due to the number of steeples that dot the low rise skyline. Our tour of Charleston includes a stop at Boone Hall Plantation. In 1743, the son of Major John Boone planted live oak trees, arranging them in two evenly spaced rows. This spectacular approach to his home symbolizes southern heritage and will take root in your memory for years to come. It would take two centuries for the massive, moss-draped branches to meet overhead, forming today's natural corridor, and a scene that NBC Daytime television says is "a must see stop on any trip to Charleston, S.C." After two memorable days in Charleston, we will overnight in Birmingham, Alabama with one more unique experience at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens! With its beautiful Antebellum architecture, waterfront views, cobblestone streets, and pure Southern charm, this Southern Charm tour is a jewel not to be missed- join us as we discover Savannah and the Souths scenic towns!
